Helen Hallesy is a native of Pontardawe in the Swansea valley and has traded from her shop in Swansea since 1984, under the name of ‘Magpie Antiques’. Although the business dealt in general antiques, Helen has a long-standing interest in Welsh ceramics, and as a private researcher, has published a number of books and articles on varying aspects of the potteries in South Wales.

The shop is now closed, but Helen continues with her research and active participation in her role as ceramic advisor to Swansea Museum services.

She is also a council member of the Royal Institution of South Wales.
